Every time I try to sync my iPod, iTunes seems to be hanging...it has wiped out all my songs from the iPod...tried to restart but every time it hangs and now I have no songs on my iPod. What do I do?

Actually just found out, the iPod is immobilising iTunes. With the iPod plugged in, iTunes is working just fine...but as soon as you plug in the iPod, iTunes hangs...
