I am in Ghana and am unable to connect my iphone to the internet. The network icon in the settings is inactive. What do i do?

Pease, am in Ghana and my iphone is unable to connect to the internet. How do i resolve this problem?

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1.1, C36GW4YVD

According to this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937, there is not a supported carrier in Ghana. Are you trying to use cellular connection to connect to the Internet or are you trying to use Wifi? If cellular, did you jailbreak the device to use on the carrier you are using it on? If so, under the terms of this forum, you cannot get any assistance.
