New calendar in iCal, but cannot select the new calendar when editing an event or anything else. How to fix this?

I created a new calendar in iCal, but I cannot select the new calendar when I am editing an event. I cannot do anything with this new event except when I right-click, the same options come up. The new calendar isn't even color-coded, and I've tried to do so. The only options I have available are Home and Work. I do things outside of work and home that require their own calendar.

Is there a way to fix this without having to go to another Calendar program/app and import it?
