Endless rebooting

I needed to reboot my iphone 5 earlier to solve an issue. The phone never restarted and was stuck on the apple logo for quite some time. I decided to restore the phone but then the phone got stuck in an endless rebooting cycle. The phone never made it past the apple logo while it was connected to the phone, but itunes WILL recognize the phone as if there is no issue at all. So I disconnected the phone and the phone once again rebooted, but this time the welcome screen showed on the phone. I went to begin setting up the phone again and the phone rebooted yet again. So now the phone will show the welcome screen for about 10 seconds and then reboot again...endlessly. Anyone have any idea of what's going on? Is there anything else I can try?

Thanks in advance for your help!

If recovery mode didn't help, either there is a hardware problem or the phone was previously jailbroken.

FYI:

1. When posting about a problem, please state EVERYTHING you tried so far, so we don't waste time suggesting things you've already done.

2. DFU is meant for hacking, and should not be used on a phone except to fix problems caused by hacking.
