Iphone 4 - if no service can you use itunes etc..

I have a iphone 4 and I am thinking about getting the iphone 5 but I want to know if the iphone 4 can be used for itunes, camera, games, etc without service?

Yes. Basically it becomes like an iPod touch. Everything else will continue working without cell connection. If an app requires Internet, use Wi-Fi.

Be sure to leave the inactivated SIM inside the old iPhone once you upgrade to a new phone. If you ever want to upgrade the iOS on the old phone, it will need to be reactivated, and for that a SIM card needs to be present. The inactivated SIM will work just fine.
