Transfer iTunes files from older laptop

So my iTunes is on a cranky laptop with vista o s. Synching with iPod not working/won't update even tho library and playlist cleaned up. Any way to copy the whole file to a flash drive and move that way to my desktop? I am obviously not too savvy with iTunes ops so need simple advice. No teenagers available to help!

I really do not understand what you mean.

- You can transfer the contents of your iPod to a new computer by:

Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities

- You can copy your iTunes library from a computer to an externs HD or USB stick by:

iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive
