trouble downloading a movie

i started downloading a movie. at first it said the time would be about 25 mins. now it says 8 hours. I have checked my internet speed on the cnet meter and it is 8mbps. what else could be making it download so slowly? i've downloaded many before and it never took this long. it is not hd. i've tried rebooting my router and my mac.
