Is there a way to re-import a Journal into iPhoto?

Thanks, Leonie, for the quick response and clear answers (while I don't like the content of the answer, i.e. that you CANNOT re-import a Journal into iPhoto (iOS), I appreciate that I now know that it cannot be done). :-)

[I was able to get the previously exported (through iTunes) Folder containing the Journal back onto the iPad (on the Mac: iTunes>Devices>my iPad>the Apps tab>Apps>iPhoto>iPhoto Docs), but the corresponding Journal does NOT show up in iPhoto, although on the iPad>Settings>General>Storage>iPhoto shows up with 7.7GB which is the storage when both Journals showed up in iPhoto]

Re restoring to an earlier version on the iPad: is there a choice of earlier versions, or only a restoration to the LAST backup? Perhaps you can help here, too?! Thanks, Veit

That will depend on the backups you have:

Open iTunes and go o the Preferences. In the "Devices" tab of your Preferences you should see al ist of all available backups in iCloud and on your Mac. Is there an older backup available? Then you could use that backup to restore your iPad. You can select from the available backups, when you are restoring the iPad.

I have one backup from yesterday (i.e. not useful) and one from April, i.e. before having created the Journal (i.e. also not useful). But this begs the question, HOW did I manage to have a backup from April, although I have synced many times since. I thought a backup replaces the previous one? Is there a way of forcing a backup whenever one wants and keeping it available for later use?

These are two very useful pointers, where and how on earth do you find these?

I think I used both methods (iCloud and iTunes) for both the iPhone and the iPad-mini; but in neither method do I have a backup of the iPad of a timeslot that contained the correct Journal. :-((( (I also fear that exploring the TimeMachine backups of my iMac won't yield anything useful?!?)

An earlier discussion, which I found, confirms your message above: once a Journal is deleted from your iOS device, it will ALSO be removed automatically from the iCloud server. It's hard for me to accept this, or why this has to be so, but this seems to be the hard truth. The logical consequence of this seems to be: you can only create and PRESERVE Journals as long as they have space on your iOS device with which they were created. A puzzling, very puzzling, concept. If this is correct, it should explicitely be stated in the official Apple documents for iPhoto for iOS. (With a somewhat equivalent app for OSX, the iWeb, I can publish as much as the WEBSITE holds, not limited by the space on my OSX device). Truly puzzling.
