Jul 16, 2013 10:17 AM in response to abby480by Jimzgoldfinch,Hi
Go to download window - top right corner of iTunes. Open up window and delete tracks that you are trying to download.
You can now try redownloading them from purchased section of iTunes Store.

May 13, 2014 7:10 PM in response to Jimzgoldfinchby jfaughnan,In my case they did not appear in the download window. (Menubar:Window:Download window). I quit iTunes, when I restarted the grayed (greyed) out items now showed with a download cloud icon. I was able to download them. This seems to be a bug with iTunes 11.1.x that is triggered when you purchase something on an iOS device then sync to iTunes.

Aug 8, 2014 7:55 PM in response to abby480by bestor18,I recently had the same problem. It appears there are a lot of ways "ghost songs" are created. In my case, I was attempting to add some new songs to my iPod, but I didn't have enough storage space available. This is when I saw the greyed out songs. There were also duplicates of old songs. I unplugged my device, closed iTunes, and deleted a few apps and ended up freeing up about 1 gigabyte. Then I plugged in my iPod and opened iTunes. I let my iPod sync completely. The greyed out songs loaded, and I was able to delete the duplicates as well. Hope this helps!
