1 Beep Problem

1 Beep Problem

Hi -- Well-versed in macs, but this one has stumped me:

2010 MacBook Pro 15" i5 was working fine this afternoon. I heard a screw rolling around inside of it, so I opened the back, shook the screw out, checked all of the connections, and everything was fine.

Booted it up, and got a beep pattern ( 1 beep), indicating that there was no ram installed. I am hard pressed to believe that this is due to a bad logic board, because, I assure you, it was working JUST FINE this afternoon.

What the heck could I have missed?

Try removing and reseating the RAM modules.

With respect, this was of course the first thing I tried. As well as an SMC reset.

No offense. I don't know that if you don't provide that info in your original post. 🙂 You say you did an SMC reset, but did you also zap the PRAM?

Screws rolling around loose could cause an electrical short, and that could damage the motherboard or the memory slots. Just a thought. Without a hardware test it's impossible to know what's wrong.
