I don't want to see the movie on both my computer and Apple TV

Just recently bought Apple TV model A1469 and have it set up the way I like but when I watch a movie through Itunes it displays on both my computer and Apple TV. Normally I wouldnt care but My MBP is close to where the Apple TV is so when I use the remote it controls both my MBP and Apple TV. Is there anyway I can have it so the remote doesn't control my MBP and so I don't see the movie on there as well?

Apple TV, iOS 6.1.4

Hello BigRstatus,

This can be done by disabling the IR receiver on the MacBook Pro.

  1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple () menu in the upper-left menu bar.
  2. Choose Security from the View menu.
  3. Click the lock and enter your Administrator password if necessary.
  4. Check (enable) the "Disable remote control infrared receiver" checkbox.
