Sounds like you may have a hardware controller that sends CC9 messages. Unplug all your MIDI devices and see if it stops. Also try to keep an eye on the MIDI event monitor in the Transport (where, when there's no MIDI activity, it says NO IN and NO OUT).

If there are 'rogue' messages being sent, the best solution would be to calibrate the controller (if possible), or to deassign the button or slider, or, if that also isn't possible, to filter out MIDI control message nr. 9 with a transformer in the environment.

It could be related to a corrupt preferences file and/or especially the Control Surface preference file.

Are you using a controller that is recognized/used by Logic? Sometimes Logic will assign a Control Surface to your keyboard which ends up doing some strange things.

(Note: If you decide to delete the preferences and you have custom key commands copy the preference file before deleteing then import your custom key command set.)

This from Apple/Logic support document, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2375

  1. In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu.
  2. Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
  3. Press the Go button.
  4. Remove the com.apple.logic.pro.plist file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro User Manual for details on how to do this. If you are having trouble with a control surface in Logic Pro, then you may also wish to delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.
  5. If you have upgraded from Logic Pro 7, you may also need to remove ~/Library/Preferences/Logic/com.apple.logic.pro.

Thanks for your replies...I use mashine as a plug in and also in midi mode when recording or modulating live. I already trashed the preferences before starting this discussion and nothing changed. what i'm reeally comfused with it's only doing it on audio tracks not software inst tracks. I'm going to troubleshoot with my midi devices as Erik suggested..

Thank you Pancenter. I did trash the preferences. Nothing changed. so that gave me the idea to go to the control surface preferences and found the problem there. For what ever the reason the check box for "Flash mute & solo button was on. I unchecked it...Problem solved..Thank you all for your help.

PS. I swear i never checked that box...lol. no idea how that happened.😮
