i was trying to update my ipod touch from iOS 4 to 5 but the process hung and now there is no iOS or any way for me to access the ipod at all. just a blank device that wont sync to my computer either. Please help.

Connect to iTunes and restore the device to an earlier backup. Of you don't have any backups try the update again.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
