Why do you feel you need a windows partition?
Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You only need Windows if you have to use an app which is only available for Windows. Can you explain your question more?
Hi
Because when I finioshed migrating my info, the machine asked me a number of questions inferring I needed a windows programme, and asking me to back up before creating a "partition"???
I have never seen that. Also, when you migrate files, there isn't any Windows applications migrated. Did the message appear in a window?
Hi
I do not even understand the concept of the windows only app
Do I need windows to run the transferred programmes or can the new OS run all my old files, that I have accumulated on Windows 7 Ultimate for the last 5 years??
Sorry to be dim, I am old as well!!!
The problem is that OS X doesn't tell you to run Windows applications. If I were you, I would use the Mac as usual, but check the files you migrated and try to open them. If you see any error message, copy it here and we will try to help you. Maybe you have files that are designed for a Windows application but it has got a version for Mac
Many thanks
as soon as the backup finishes I will try, and hopefully be able to do without a windows OS
Good luck
