imac 10.8.4 Audio Hardware Setup

Dear all

I am trying to connect an external mic (AKG C 2000 B) to the new imac 2013 with osx 10.8.4

I have:

1. XLR cable.

2. Apple Fire wire to thunderbolt adapter.

3. 400 to 800 Fire wire cable.

4. M audio Firewire 410 (no drivers for 10.8.4).

5. M audio Audio Buddy dual mic preamp direct box. (+ power supply) (http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/AudioBuddy.html)

My plan was to use the firewire 410 but alas there are no working drivers for 10.8.4

Can anyone suggest the best way to connect the mic to the mac using the stuff above ...

Are there any jack to firewire adapters/converters that would alow me to use the Audio buddy instead?

All suggestions would be most welcome

Sad about the FW demotion in OSX. 😟

I can't for he life of me find what kind of connection the AKG C 2000 B uses, would an iMac at least allow it's use on the Mac?

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestion.

However the AKG C 2000 B is a compressor mic that requires phantom power it has an xlr connection: http://www.akg.com/media/media/download/7769

I think that would work well. I was hoping I wouldn't need to buy any more equipment though. I am trying to connect the Audio buddy to the headphone socket, but it doesnt seem to be picking it up? Do you know if the headphone output can be used as an input and how to set it up?
