Jul 18, 2013 7:20 AM in response to Moaksby Delgadoh,Hey Moaks,
Thanks for the question. I'd go through the following troubleshooting steps and see if that resolves the swiping issue:
Touch screen is not accepting input:
- Clean the screen with a microfiber polishing cloth.
- Do not wear gloves while using the touchscreen. Do not use the touchscreen with wet hands or immediately after applying hand lotion. Moisture affects touchscreen behavior in the same manner as it affects a trackpad.
- If you have a protective plastic sheet or film on the touchscreen, try removing it, because it may be preventing the touchscreen from working properly.
- The current application may be unresponsive; try resetting iPod by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Down buttons simultaneously for a least eight seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Sync with iTunes and restore the iPod.

While the article this information is from says 6th generation, most of the troubleshooting steps will apply to your 7th generation nano.

Dec 29, 2015 12:23 PM in response to Delgadohby adinike,I have the exact same problem. My ipod nano is brand new and i've just started using it. None of the above solutions helped. Firstly, there's nothing wrong with the screen sensitivity and responsiveness, it responds smoothly. Only problem is it does not respond as it's supposed to (as described by Apple instructions itself.
When swiping right, there is a rectangular perimeter around a particular selection, this rectangle jumps to another selection with every swipe. Every swipe RIGHT it goes to one selection down, and every swipe LEFT brings to one selection up. So if you keep swiping left the rectangle jumps all the way up to the battery bar, and even the time or whatever is at the utmost top beside the battery. But none of the swipes right brings you to "previous screen" as described by apple instructions. So if i am in SETTINGS page and have entered a sub selection like GENERAL for example, i can only press home screen and totally get out of SETTINGS instead of going back to previous screen.
The question posted above is from 2013, it is now the end of year 2015 and it is still the same problem? Is there a better solution that all that you have posted above? My previous nano was the 6th generation and it's really smooth, every tap selects and enters immediately just like every other touch device like the iPhone for example. This current nano doesn't, instead you have to double tap to select everything, be it to enter SETTINGS, to click PLAY for a song, basically anything you want to select, the first tap only brings the rectangular perimeter around the selection, you've got to double tap to enter. Is there a way to change this setting so that it will be selected and entered immediately just like iphone?
PS: The pictures i've inserted show the rectangular perimeter i''m talking about and how it jumps around with every left and right swipe, even to the top of the screen, which is of no purpose.

Dec 29, 2015 12:47 PM in response to adinikeby pmiles,You should really create your own post rather than piggy-backing onto an older thread.
I believe you have inadvertently turned on VoiceOver. It changes the way the iPod functions in regards to swipes. Try turning it off and see if it behaves as you expect it to.

Just that i was super excited about my new ipod and was frantic when it wasn't functioning properly, and after just one search saw this user talking about the exact same issue i had and i got even more frantic thinking it really is spoilt. Anyways....... problem solved. Thank you!
