Hello - How does one import PMW-200 HD footage to FCPX?
Thanks for the help.
Easy, find a converter to convert your PMW-200 HD to ProRes MOV for FCP X. the converter you can google it.
Here is the Apple Knowledge Base article about it:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4724?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
PMW-200 should output MXF footages, not the compatible format file for FCP X. The fastest way, in my opinion, is to use a video converter to do a simple conversion, then import the favor format files to FCP X.
Also, i found another similar question with yours. It's said that you can install a plug-in, i don't know whether it's the same story with yours, anyway, you can just go and see: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5163862?answerId=22488797022#22488797022
if that's the different situation with yours, you can try the first method i told you. And if you need the guide of the converter, you can refer to here.
good luck!!!
This product should not be used for professional (or even amateur) video production.
I would suggest to use Sony Content Browser or even XDCAM Browser to convert your MXF to a useable Quicktime file. This is a 1:1 process, no quality is lost, just a matter of changing audio/video container. Then in FCPX, you can optimize the media if you want.
.
I think the rewrapped XDCAM is an optimized format for the application.
Thanks to everyone. I will be trying out the above methods tonight and will let you all know.
Thanks again.
