Q: change Apple ID

I have a new email address and have changed my Apple ID and Password...  However when my iPhone asks me for this information, it still displays the old ID, How can I change it so the phone knows the correct one?

Thank you

iPhone 4, iOS 5

When is your device asking for the information?  You can sign out of the iTunes and App store in settings, then sign in with your new AppleID.

However, anytime there is an update for any apps or content purchased with the old AppleID, it will prompt for that as all purchases are permanently tied to the AppleID used when buying them.

Did you just change your primaty email address at https://appleid.apple.com

Or, did you create a whole new AppleID?  Note that if you created an entirely new AppleID, then you can no longer change the primary email address of the old one as that new email is already in use now as an AppleID.  And, you cannot transfer purchases from the old AppleID to the new one.

Settings>iTunes/App store...tap the ID shown...sign out...now, sign back in with your new ID.

For iCloud, you'll have to delete the account, then re-create: Settings>iCloud...scroll down...delete account.

All apps obtained with your old ID will have to be updated using that ID...Apps are forever tied to the ID used to obtain them.

Michael, I am having this problem. Changed the email address on my Apple ID via the iCloud Web site. Now, on my phone, the iCloud account is the old address. Under both the iCloud sign-in, and the iTunes App Store, the old account is there, but greyed out, not allowing any changes. Not sure what to do at this point.

I am having the same problem.  I can't simply delete my account, because I have "Find my iPhone" on and when I try to turn it off it won't let me without a password...which is linked to the email/Apple ID that no longer exists.  Hence, the Apple ID/password aren't recognizable and I can't do ANYTHING except get error messages.  I can't even delete them without putting in a password to an ID that doesn't exist...

It all works ok on my Mac, but my phone, although it has been hard-synced & reset, still won't recognize the new ID and password combo.

DDoesn't work if find my phone is on. Asks for password again, but this Apple ID doesn't exist according to Apple.com so no password works anyway. Stuck in a loop because I can't change it under iCloud  Only iTunes/AppStore.
