Sustain Pedal recorded as note

I have my keyboard connected to my MacBook Pro with a MIDI to USB cable. Whenever I play without using the sustain pedal, the notes are recorded accurately. However, whenever I use the sustain pedal, a loud note, always the same, is recorded when I press the pedal. Is there a way to fix this?
