I have logic 9 installed and my older projects will require the use of 32 bit plugins which X doesn't support. Can I have 9 and X installed side by side?

Do you know if channel strip settings etc (things in hd/library/application support) will be left alone? Noticed there isn't a different folder folder for logic versions as the folder in app support doesn't have the version number attached to it (just labeled 'Logic'.

Yes, Logic Pro X is a new application. It doesn't touch Logic Pro 9. Your private channel strip settings are not touched, but Logic Pro 9 doesn't support the new ones from Logic Pro X.
