Personal Hotspot "greyed out" in Settings - Why?

Hello,

My problem that I am having with my iPad 3 is that the option for Personal Hotspot is disabled along with Mobile Data. Why?

I have no SIM card inserted inside my iPad but the only reason I wish to do this is for LAN gaming when there is no available WiFi around. I can do this with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8000 but not with my iPad.

Here is a picture of the issue: User uploaded file

As you can see, the two options are disabled. How would I go about fixing this? Thank you.

Mobile Data and Personal Hotspot require an active Cellular/Mobile Service plan. Mobile Data is what you use to connect to the internet through your Cellular Provider's network. Hotspot shares this connection out through wifi to other devioces.

If there is no Sim inserted, then there is no MobileData. If there is no Mobile Data there is nothing to share through the Hotspot feature so it also becomes inactive.

How would I go about fixing this? Thank you.

Insert an active Sim card with an active Mobiel Data plan into your iPad, and they will become active and useable.
