I can't find my plugged-in devices anywhere in iTunes, the "File>Devices" selections are always shaded. I would like to show the devices' status whenever I select iTunes on my Mac. Any ideas?

Additionally, do all your devices use an Apple ID that has been authorized on your Mac? If not, go to Store > Authorize This Computer in iTunes' menu and make sure the devices' Apple IDs are authorized.

I found that the devices show as long as they are connected and not ejected by going to the iTunes menu: View > Show Sidebar.
I couldn't find the View menu because it was turned off. I found I could turn it on using the little menu in the upper-left of the iTunes window (it has a little down arrow next to the icon, which is half shaded, half clear). The item is Show Menu Bar. Then, I could find the View menu.
Much head-pounding averted.
I can't find my devices on iTunes. The selections in File> "devices" are always shaded. How can I always view my connected devices in iTunes?
