How to recover previous bookmark bar settings

Hi,

Can anybody help with recovering previous "bookmark bar" bookmarks as they have changed.

Situation is that I have a iMac running 10.8.4 with latest version of Safari, iPhone 5 and PC laptop also running Safari browser, all connected by iCloud. Now first time I hooked PC laptop up with iPhone so could transfer pictures which worked ok. Not long after we noticed bookmark bar on PC laptop Safari browser had add bookmarks from iMac or iPhone but still kept the original bookmarks on the bar, just moved them along. So this was easy to resolve by deleting them out. Couple days later the reverse happened and the bookmark bar on iMac changed to PC laptop bookmarks but this time it didn't move them along but deleted them altogether. So now I have iMac and iPhone with wrong bookmark bar. This problem appears to only be around the bookmark bar settings as other bookmarks in folder have not changed.

I did read that a hidden preference folder may hold the original settings but I have not a clue how you change this if this is true.

Thanks

Rob

This just happened with my iPhone, too. I tried all the fixes you did. Shutting down Safari worked. I am happy that I did not lose the bookmarks I had added to my iPhone with the help of iPhone Bookmark Recovery.
