My iPod isn't working. References a corrupt message.

I Need some help with my iPod which has always worked fine until today. I'm concerned about losing the music that is stored on it. It is on but won't charge and/or none of the buttons are working properly. It took many attempts to get iTunes opened on my computer (which is also slow) then it referenced "corrupt" and talked about doing a reset but I didn't have the option. Can someone please help me with this? I have an older version and may need to upgrade and if that's the only option so be it, but I'd like to at least retrieve and/or transfer my music files if that is possible.

for direct messages, thanks!

Hi Skolson33!

I have a website here that can help you troubleshoot this issue in order to get the iPod working again. This is the website for our iPod troubleshooting assistants, and it can be found right here:

Apple - Support - iPod Troubleshooting Assistants

http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/

Just choose your iPod from this page and the assistant will take you through the steps of troubleshooting to attempt to resolve this issue. Thanks for being a part of the Apple Support Communities!
