Just purchased an iphone 4 1 week ago can't get it show up in itunes. It shows up under my computer file.Having the same problem with ipod nano am i missing a pnp driver? I'm really frustrated. Followed all of apples troubleshooting and did not work

If you have carefully done all of those steps there's nothing else to do. Your computer isn't compatible with your iPhone.

However, this problem is usually caused either by using a USB hub rather than a USB port directly on the computer, or the AppleMobileDeviceService is not running. But I've assumed that you checked both of these.

In iTunes - are you able to see the Menu Bar and Sidebar when your device is connected ? If not - click on the small box at the top left of the iTunes screen and click on "Show menu bar". Once you see the menu bar click on View then select "Show sidebar"

Can you see your phone in the sidebar now ?

There is no generic problem with the iPhone and Windows 7. There are millions of iPhone users who use it with Windows 7.

When you plug in the USB do you see the iPhone in the sidebar in iTunes? What folder do you see it in, an iTunes folder or a Windows 7 folder?

Have you verified that AppleMobileDevicesService.exe is running, in Task Manager? If you open the iPhone in Windows, what do you see? All you should see is the photos taken with the iPhone camera.
