Frozen after files transferred using migration assistant

After running through this and getting the info transferred successfully, my computer asked for password to change things. Then my Mac user account and password. iMac is now frozen with a grey screen and the option to click continue. Cannot do anything

iMac (27-inch, Late 2012)

Not enough detail. What did you transfer from to what. If transferred from an older installation to a new iMac, then consider starting over and migrating on first boot, using the Setup Assistant as described in Pondini's Setup New Mac guide. That eliminates all user conflicts.
