h.264 codec is not supported
Any reason why a 1080p QuickTime movie encoded in h.264 at 10000kbps is not supported on the iPhone? That's the codes I'm always using and now all of a sudden it cannot be synced?
Thanks,
Simon

OK guys, I think I found the error. Since this video was shot on the iPad (or it could have been the iPhone for that matter) the fps was variable. So when I exported the film and had the fram rate set to current, that variable was going to go through. The film copied over now.
Thanks.
the Iphone doesn't have the required 1080 vertical lines to support "1080p" - so whats the point of supporting it?
it doesn't even have 720 vertical lines to support 720p video.... all these videos are downscaled to 1136x640 resolution on the Iphone 5.
Yes. It has worked up until a week ago. Then suddenly there's no support.
I know iPhone does not have 1080p or 720p resolution, but that has never stopped me for playing back HD video on it. Let's say I shoot a 1920x1080 video on my XDCAM, I export the file in h.264, import it to iTunes and sync it with my iPhone or iPad. No problems.
I just thought it was kinda weird.
Thanks
Exact specs supported, as given by Apple:
Video formats supported: H.264 video up to 1080p, 30 frames per second, High Profile level 4.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format
Make sure the file complies with it.
That is the summary that I have on those h.264 files. That's why I thought it was weird. I do have low complexity on a few movies though (home-made projects, that is), but those are already in the library, running.
chenweb: I export using QuickTime player 7. (Still running Mac OSX 10.8.4)
Thanks for your help so far, guys! I'll try a little more.
Are you saying it has worked in the past, and just now stopped working, or has it never worked?
There has been no change to iTunes or iOS in the past week, so if it worked before it should work now. Most likely there's something different about the video file you are trying to view.
