How to uninstall mainstage 2 content now that mainstage 3 is here

I just installed mainstage 3. Mainstage 2 still seems to be installed - they are clearly separate installations.

I want to remove mainstage 2 and any mainstage 2 specific content and free up disk space.

If I delete the mainstage 2 app - what about the installed content / sounds and libraries etc? How are they removed?

I know there was an old thread on this in 2008. It would be good to have more current information.

Do mainstage 3 and mainstage 2 share anything?

For those that claim mainstage 3 content is all new - presumably additional jampacks are shared somehow?

I just want to have mainstage 3 and its content (to share with logic pro x and if possible some with garageband) and no wasted space with old mainstage 2 stuff. I certainly don't want 30 gigs of mainstage 2 content and jampacks being duplicated uselessly on my hard drive.

Open the hard drive icon and go into the Library folder. In there you find the Application Support folder.. and in there are GarageBand and Logic folders. This is the majority of the content.

Then, back out in the Library folder you will see a folder named Audio. In there are the Apple Loops and Impuise Response folders.

Those are the locations for a default installation of the content.

Good luck... and perhaps make sure you have a recent backup of your system before deleting anything ;-)
