Jul 17, 2013 5:06 PM in response to lcharleboisby Mac_Master,Try restarting it while disconnected by holding the SLEEP/WAKE & HOME buttons until it shows the apple, ignoring the slider. If this doesn't work, try connecting to iTunes and doing a software update.

Jul 17, 2013 6:30 PM in response to lcharleboisby Destinie Harris,Your iPad is in recovery mode and the only way that it will come on is to restore it to get out of this mode. This is normal when you first get an iPad and pretty easy to get out of.
Make sure that iTunes is up to date
1. Go to Help > Check for Updates in iTunes.
2. If you don't see the Help menu, locate the small grey box in the very top left corner of iTunes and click it. Then click Show Menu Bar and the Help menu will appear
After you update iTunes, restart your computer, and then try to restore again. If that doesn't resolve your issue, try this article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1814
