I have accidentley deleted my icon for my desktop icon! I found another one online but not very good.
Please see attached screenshot!
Anyway to get it back?

Try OPTION COMMAND S or OPTION COMMAND T

Use Software Update or the OS 10.8.4 combo update to update your OS. Also, update everything SU has to offer for your computer. When done, repair permissions and restart your computer.

I have already updated my mac and no more updates. Please see attached screenshot. I am currently downloading the combo update. Will i need it?

The combo update may or may not give you a desktop folder. You have nothing to lose.
Go to Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility and select your volume and then select Repair Permissions.

Have you tried Finder Preferences>Sidebar, check the Desktop box?

You need to rebuild your .DS_store file for your desktop and LaunchServices.
Download Onyx
Click cancel for verify disk when you open it.
Navigate to Maintenance > Rebuild.
Check "Launch Services" and "Appearance of folders' content."
For path, select your desktop /Users/yourusername/Desktop
Finally, check "This folder only"
Execute and then reboot.

Unfortunatly that did not work. I tried it twice. By reboot you mean restart my computer? I did all of this but is does not work. I cannot uncheck the locate database. Will that impact this. Any other fix? I have Total Finder add-on to Finder installed. Will that impact it? Thanks
Yes, I meant restart. Did you restart?
No, the locate database will not impact this in any way. Nothing to do with this.
The easiest fix, if this fails after a restart, may be to do what was suggested earlier. Reinstall the combo update.
Off the toop of my head...
1) You could also create a new account/ enable guest account
2) Copy desktop folder to /System/Library
3) Log out and log back into your account
4) Remove all items from your desktop (into your documents folder temporarily, for example)
6) Delete your desktop folder
5) Move the copied Desktop folder from /System/Library/ to Users/yourusername/
6) Change the permissions on the new desktop folder to the correct ones via Terminal with the following command: sudo chown -R $UID:staff /Users/yourusername/Desktop ; exit
