Q: Wind Mobile Activate iMessage / Facetime

iPhone 5 AWS

 

 

Cannot activate imessage and facetime with my phone number on Wind Mobile here in Canada. I have international text and it still wont activate. Wind Mobile doesnt carry the iPhone. I thought any carrier can get imessage??

    I just checked my usage as well as my wife's usage. My wife has had no international messages to Apple for as far back as I checked (March 9). I turned iMessage off on April 1 so I could redo the process and have not sent any since then. You may want to confirm the dates shown in your usage history as it can take 24 hours for it to update.

    If you continue to see new outbound messages, I'm not sure what to suggest as it's not something I have encountered.

    I've checked my usage and I haven't had any other international texts since I did my activation.

     

    Also, for people having issues, don't forget the activation ticket is only good for 30 minutes, and if you disable and re enable iMessage it will send a new text and make your old ticket invalid. So make sure the string you are copying is the latest one. My log had three strings in it that matched and had to grab the one furthest down the log.

    Can anyone else get this to work? I ported my Fido number to Wind today (read somewhere in this thread that ported numbers didn't work for someone) and even after 2 hours of it trying to activate, i can't find that string of text in the log file. I have internation texting already on pre-paid. The log file did show a +44 number, though. But that doesn't get me any closer.

     

    Can anyone else help me/get theirs to work?

    I can't get this to work either. None of what has been said above appears in any of my log files.

    I had a lot of trouble getting that stuff to appear in my logs. The time I finally got it to work was by turning off both iMessage and Facetime, and then when following the instructions instead of turning iMessage back on, I turned on Facetime. No idea if that's actually the solution, but when I did that it worked.

    Hmm - maybe I'll spend a few minutes and try this. I think each time I've left Facetime off and only tried with iMessage. I'll let you know how it goes!

    Finally got it to work!

     

     

    The problem was that my account wasn't set up to send international text messages so the hex str wasn't being produced. Once I topped up my account and was able to send international texts, voila, the hex str was there!

    I used the online activation that smcclayso graciously made (HUGE THANK YOU!), and within a minute iMessages were up and running with both the phone number and email.

     

     

     

    For those of you still having issues, ensure you can send international text messages otherwise you'll be searching for something that isn't there.

    2eyzyo, Did you already have international texting on the $40 plan? My messages are going through, and i have tried both Facetime and Messages but the string isn't showing up for me.

    No, International text messages are not included with my plan. I found this out by trying to manually text the +44 number and having it not go through. I called customer support and they said international text messages were not included in my $40.00 plan and that if I wanted to send them I would have to top up my account OR travel to the United States (...really odd).

     

    Anyway, I added $5.00 to my Wind account, restarted both iMessage and FaceTime and then waited a couple minutes before commencing the *5005*78283# code. Once in the log file, I did a ctrl+f and searched "point to point" and immediately found it!

     

    I would ensure you indeed have international texts included in your plan. Try sending a text manually to the +44 number. If it fails, you may need to top up your account.

    II'd like to thank you, 2ezyo. You just helped me activate it; Before I was searching for "GSM SMS," and "+44" to find the string with no results but when I entered "point to point," it showed up.

     

    Others who can't find the string in their log: Make sure you have international text and search for "point," it'd help you find the string.

    i put the string onto the site and submited it, but its been 15 minutes and my imessage is still not activated could you please help

    This worked perfectly for me, and it was really helpful because there was a lot of back and forth through the other messages. THANK YOU!!! and THANK YOU to smclayy for even figuring this out and everyone else for their input.

    For anyone wondering, I had a Rogers iPhone that I unlocked...I used T-Mobile in the USA, and when I found out about the new Wind 39 plan for the USA, I jumped on board and got a new number and sim from Wind...just today actually.

     

    I followed all the above steps, and had no problems setting up my iMessage!

    I am still having issues, my issue right now is that I cannot get the logs to generate at all. Nothing shows up in the folder. Does anyone have any ideas ?
