Okay so I'm a little confused now, are people getting successful native activations without any intervention, or is the diagnostic dump method still necessary, it just happens to be working again?

Based on what I have seen, Wind has started delivering the corrupt activation SMS again, so you will need to dump your baseband logs and use my website to activate.

I'm also seeing mixed messages about activation just working, but I have no confirmation of it. I'm just downloading iOS 8, so I may have some more insight once it is installed.

I can confirm that I have successfully done the same just now.

I tried pretty hard a few months back after the tool stopped working but never got past the HEX string (was never able to get a HEX string to submit).

I did it as Peter described, waited the 2 mins and it worked perfectly.

Thanks again to smcclay for his noble work.

To clarify, mine just activated on its own, no extra steps required on my part. I originally used your steps and website back in May to activate when I ported from Telus to Wind. No need for that today after updating to iOS 8, it just happened on its own, after about 30 seconds.

Okay, I could be wrong, but what I'm discerning from the conversation so far is that people who had successfully done the hactivation previously are now getting native reactivations after the ios8 update, and people who had never successfully activated previously are now able to get themselves activated via the baseband dump method Again.

    Looking hopeful!

    Oshawapilot,

That's exactly right. I was never able to get my phone number activated on iOS 7 after the Wind SMS changes that prevented the round-trip.

Today, with iOS 8, was the first time with hex dump that I was able to activate.

I'll be trying the process again this evening with my wife's phone and will report back.

Hey everyone, I am attempting to activate on iOS 8. I have never had my iMessage working properly on Wind so this would be amazing. But I'm using the Yosemite beta and can't get iTunes to transfer the diagnostic data. Anyone have any suggestions for me? This is driving me insane!!

Try using FaceTime instead of iMessage (basically turn both off in the first part of the intrusions and then just turn on FaceTime let it send the silent text and follow instructions and usual)

It worked like a charm for me, first attempt after iOS8 update.

I've been working on this for about a half hour now after updating to iOS8.   No joy so far, the return SMS is not showing in the baseband dumps.

    Continuing to try...

Make sure you are looking in the correct Library folder.  If I recall, you can hold the option key and choose the correct one from the 'Go' menu.

I'm getting the dumps and I'm seeing other texts in them, but not the magic text.   I just cycled imessage on/off again and ran a dump after 2 minutes and 1 every minute thereafter for about 10 minutes....absolutely nothing is coming back.

I'm just going to let it sit now and see what happens, running a dump every 5 minutes or so.

For those who apparently had iMessage reactivate without any intervention, I think you should all look really closely - I too had thought (right after the iOS8 update) that I had had the same luck, but it actually had NOT properly activated with the phone number attached - a quick imessage to my own iPhone showed that it was actually activated using the iCloud email address, but it wasn't properly attached to the actual phone number.

Dumped the logs, got the code, submitted and waited, 20 seconds later my iMessage was activated. Thanks smcclay. Now is there a way to turn logging 'off' or does it do that on the next reboot.

OK, finally had some success and found the HEX in the dump...took about 30-40 minutes to arrive in my case.   It did NOT activate automatically nonetheless.

I copied and pasted it to the website and it accepted it.   Sure enough about 30 seconds later iMessage activates.   Everything LOOKS good, but not so much.  As I alluded to earlier (and everyone who THINKS they're getting iMessage activated needs to check this) - when you look at the iMessage "Send and Receive" settings and then the "You can be reached my iMessage at:" submenu, you may see (like myself) that only the icloud email addresse(s) are activate, with the actual phone number ghosted out.

So in reality iMessage is only activated through the iCloud address - my wifes actual phone number (which is the key to iMessage really working seamlessly) is still not actually attached to the iMessage servers correctly.

Thank you so much for all your help. I had to import the logs a couple of times but it worked after a few tries. Really happy to have my iMessage up and running!
