Mactracker Macbook Pro 13-inch mid 2010 RAM Claims

Ok guys, can we please settle this. When I run Mactracker on my mid 2010 13" MBP it gives me the following:

It clearly says that though Apple claims that this model can only handle 8GB of RAM, it can actually handle up to 16GB! Yet everyone in all the other threads seems to be in agreement that pre-2011 MBPs cannot take more than 8GB of RAM! So are you guys saying that Mactracker is wrong? If so, on what basis?

Thank you.

Right, but I recommend you purchase memory from a vendor known to supply Mac - compatible RAM. Two that I have personally used and can recommend are OWC from leroydouglas's link and Crucial. If you buy from a PC vendor, Amazon or other such sources, they often supply RAM that does not meet its published specifications and will be unreliable on a Mac.
