I just bought a MacBook Pro and installed the usb midi driver software for my M-Audio Radium midi keyboard. When I open garageband the computer does not recognize that the keyboard exists. WHY????

Please help.
Thanks,

I have a similar problem. I have a Yamaha S08 keyboard/synthesizer connected to my MacBook Pro by USB. I did download the latest driver from Yamaha, which claims to support Intel Macs, and once I installed it, the keyboard is automatically recognized by Audio MIDI Setup. I can't figure out how to get GarageBand to listen to the keyboard and record the output.

I know I could workaround it by just connecting the keyboard audio output to the computer's audio input, but that defeats the purpose of MIDI. This is my first attempt at using GarageBand, so the answer might be really simple.

Thanks!

The normal way to do it is go to preferences then click the midi button. If the keyboard is connected you will see something that says 1 midi device connected. If it says that, choose built in device from the pull down menu or choose the actual device if it is there. If that doesn't work, thats the same problem I had before I installed the driver.
