Q: Why is the Apple Mac Developer portal down, and for how long?

I cannot access the Mac Developer resources this morning.

With a company as advannced as Apple, I would expect them to be able to roll out web updates

seamlessly.

I don't like being out in the cold.

I want to download the Mavericks Beta.

National, you are full of it....

For the Government to shut down Apple's Developer portal you would have to see signs of their involvement.  Including,  "Undisclosed periods of down time","No reasonable explanation as to why its down"

    and

the most typical one would be what they pulled in Bengazi, blame the whole outage on a Video that was released three months ago.

""We plan to roll out our updated systems, starting with Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles, Apple Developer Forums, Bug Reporter, pre-release developer libraries, and videos first," said the update. "

There was something a little whacked in the above statement that bugged me. Only one thing can be rolled out first. They list five items, which all suggests they have no plan.

Entering day 8, I wouldn't make any bets that the site is up in less than 3 - 6 weeks since it was taken down.

After the site comes up, it may be best to just hang back, because there will be bugs.

I hope someone has been inspired to parody the WWDC video concerning their design philosophy.

I like how the status page uses green for the two items that survived the outage (Yay for us!), but grey (nohting to see here...move along) for the ones that are yet to recover. As if using red would be too much negativity to bear, visually....

Red light....Green light.  Amusing reaction on someone's part, I think

This developer portal is almost like a broken light switch.

I am still flicking the thing up expecting the light to go on.

I am so used to firing off new Provisioning profiles for iTunes games -- that it still hasn't sunk in I have to wait.

Except that iTunes Connect did not survive! Have you tried to get a Bundle ID?

    Really frustrating.

We create apps for customers... we need to send them betas.. we need to release approved apps... most of them have deadlines connected to events... we really need to know at least an estimate about when the dev center should work again.

I have customers asking me now for apps to be released on september.. what should I answer?

My developer account was set to expire last Friday and has since been extended to Aug 5. That might say something about Apple's timeframe.

All they have to do is extend again....it's just a window to CYA, otherwise, I think

    Still, good info, so thanks.

Is that all the info you have? If it truly was a national security threat then why isn't this being discussed/reported elsewhere?

Please pay attention to both of your legs....at least one of them is being pulled - rather hard, I'd say.

LMAO, the guardian. The attack used a method similar to those used in XSS but it was not an XSS. You can clearly see the script running in the background. It was running an incrementing post to the RPC server and harvesting the details out of the responses. An XSS attack is a bounce attack and this clearly was not one.

If you trust that as a news source then i have some pictures of Aliens for you too, LMAO.

well, i really have no luck...

last week, the very same day apple closed its dev sites i bougth my very first mac after many years of reluctance to switch from my windows pcs

the sole and only  reason i bought this macbook was because i realised how easy it would be for me to do the work i've been recently charged with by using Quartz Composer wich seems as powerfull yet simple to use as i never dreamt.

so after having painfully but happily spent my money on my macbook, i nervously ran home to enter Apple Dev Site to download Quartz Composer only to get instead the nice little message you all have been discussing on this forum...

i was suposed to allready be presenting my work's first tests to my client but instead of that i am thinking to put my mac into the oven with some potatoes, garlic and onions to eat in a meal of consolation with my client...

please, apart of the Dev.Site, is there any place or way on earth where i could get a copy of Quartz Composer so i don't have to eat my brand new macbook, which i must admit looks much nicer than my ugly asus laptop (apart from that horrible and extremely anoying round logo that emits hypnotizing white lights at the back of the cover wich i dont know how to erase...)
