Q: Why is the Apple Mac Developer portal down, and for how long?

I cannot access the Mac Developer resources this morning.

With a company as advannced as Apple, I would expect them to be able to roll out web updates

seamlessly.

I don't like being out in the cold.

I want to download the Mavericks Beta.

    It IS a dream.

I still cannot upload any new apps. Even though I have accepted this notorious license agreement in the new member center, itunes connect for some reason CANNOT detect I have pressed the accept button!

    Here we go again.

I have already messaged apple support twice in the past 2 hours. The updated license agreement is USELESS if itunes connect cannot detect I've pressed the "agree" button.

For the love of venus... why doesn't apple complete the darn puzzle?! why finish step 1 and leave steps 2 and 3 behind? You need all steps to upload an app. Agreeing to an agreement is useless if they don't recognize you did.

Have to wait some more. Arghh.

i accepted the new agreement but then got an error box saying i "don't have access to this resource based on my membership. ...Either the Apple ID and password you entered is not associated with a Mac Developer Program, or the Developer Program that you are enrolled in does not have access to this resource.

I don't know if it's worth noting but i'm trying to register as an ios developer, not a mac developer.

The same here, i got an activation code for my iOS development on july 18. After that, apple went down for maintainance, the services are back today, but I still couldn't active my account.

The developer site has been and is obviously a ramshackle collection of different databases handled by distinct groups, with no 'brain' or entity that had any eye to utility or workflow. The idea that Apple was going to 'redesign' the entire shebang after the security breach was information enough that it was going to take at least 1.5 - 2 months to completely fix from the day they took the site down.

Although I might yet be proven wrong, I am unhappy to say I will be closer to 'right' on this one.

Apple really is losing its cool in 30 days or less. To let the world's largest company's infrastructure evolve in this way suggests a stunning lack of technical fortitude or forsight.

A hallmark of good design, is an outtage like this, requiring a redesign/restructure like they are probably doing, under these circumstances, would not be necessary.

I think we should have compensation for this. Perhaps several extra months of being a developer.

It would be nice to know what the problem is rather than keeping everything in absolute secrecy, Apple.

Submitted my new request for iOS dev program just minutes after Apple opened the site again. It's now 28 hours since I got the confirmation email from Apple Store, promising an activation code within 24 hours. Nothing so far.

Also sent a email to support after 24 hours passed. The auto response just told me that they only work 9am to 5pm Mon-Fri.... Then they will have 1 day to respond.

Now I understand why Apple waited until last minute on Friday to open up the site. Even if nothing works behind the scenes, they just bought themselves at least 3 days more.

It was definately rushed out of the door with no thought or seemigly care as to whether it worked or not.  Definately has affected my relationship with Apple and the month of free membership is a true insult.  I'm curious why the tech press really hasn't taken full attention of this story and portrayed it for the debacle it truly is.

This happens when you work for a company with NO ACCOUNTABILITY to its business partners.

You can't disagree with me, in that even if apple took 1 year and 6 months to completely restore their site to its former functionality we couldn't do any more than send emails they are not obligated to reply to. If this hack has taught us coders anything, is that we need to form a union. And elect representatives to sit in the apple developer board. Because apple's behavior is completely unnacceptable and we should not work for a company that treats us like this.

If we had a representative there these services will be back in 1-week instead of 1+ month. ****, if we had guys to speak for us apple wouldn't have been able to tear the whole site down in the first place! They acted like it was their private website. WRONG. I paid $99 so it's not your private website! Security or no security breach you cannot just lock me out without informing me first. At least give me back my money and i'll decide later whether I still want to code for you when you pull yourself together.

Our only power is patience, we are forced to wait. We are not given a timeline, our complaints are not given replies. This is starting to be ridiculous. Apple is pushing me to the limit.
