While listening to music in the cloud on iphone 5, there's suddenly no audio. I was in the middle of an album, the first few tracks played fine. Tried turning match off and on, and rebooting phone. Songs downloaded to phone will play, but songs in the cloud are silent. The player shows the counter moving, as if it's playing the song, but there's no audio.

The problem is the WiFi service itself.
I learned 2 things about Match I wish I knew before signing up:
1) it is a data pig. You may find that streaming back your music takes as much data as a movie. Hence, you probably want to use your main (unlimited) the Wi-Fi (which means you're at home where your music is on your Desktop.. so, why stream?)
2) that WiFi has to be robust-very! Example: I have WiFi in my car strong enough to stream a baseball game (pic & sound)...but with Match, all I get is the Icon showing that the song is playing.. no volume. Minutes later, at home, on a WiFi partially down for repair (Cogeco), the same songs play perfectly. Same thing if I stream via my Hotspot on my phone's 4gl.
Hope this helps some. It won't if your home wireless network isn't streaming Match either. Could you boost your signal with 1 of those $30 gadgets? (We got one to boost wireless signal to a room). Please let me know if this helps.

I have this same problem too, but on both my iPad and my iPhone. I have also noticed that it only seems to be an issue with songs that were initially "matched" rather than uploaded. I've done all the same steps as OP.
For the record, too, these are songs I have previously listened to using itunes match, over wifi. Even songs I just listened to today, now won't play.
Same problem here. Same time of day, even. Right in the middle of a song.

Yup, i'm having this problem also on both my iPhone and iPad. All tracks are 'playing' (progress bar moves) but audio missing from a lot.
Me, too. Just started today. Here's the skinny:
On my iPhone 5, iTunes Matched songs play, but I hear no audio. It plays all the way through, it doesn't skip the song or anything. Just plays silent. However, uploaded songs (the ones iTunes couldn't Match) play fine with audio.
On my Mac, matched songs and uploaded songs all play fine.
Yesterday, everything all played fine, so this points to an iTunes Match issue within the last day?
Anyone get any feedback from Apple?

yep, affecting iPhone 4 and iPad Retina.
Happens on WiFi and LTE (for iPad).
I've tried rebooting iPhone, no change. I disabled and then re-enabled iTunes Match on iPhone, no change.
Just many minutes of silent music.
Same here, just started today. Downloaded songs play fine, streaming from iCloud is an exercise in frustration. Only one out of 15 are actually streaming.
Everyone I work with who uses iCloud is having the same problem,
Apple's music match is presently not working.
Hopefully they will fix this soon. If you have the song on your phone, plays fine, but if you're using music match, acts like it's playing but it is not.
Add me to the List. Of you download songs, they will play without any problem. For songs which are matched, even iPhone says its playing, there is no sound at all.
