Need help re-organizing snow leopard

I looked high and low for a tutorial or a checklist for this, but found nothing. Basically, I have some software installed on my computer that I don't want to lose - one program I lost the install disc, and the other I cannot find my serial number. So, instead of backing up my files and completely wiping everything clean and starting from scratch, I'm trying to manually go through and make sure all my folders are in order. It looks to me that places like "Users," "Application Support," and "Library" just to name a few are very unorganized and more jumbled than they should be.

Is there a tutorial or spreadsheet on the web that shows you what your Snow Leopard folders SHOULD look like right after an install? So I can go back and re-organize them myself?
