Nudging mouse causes rapid scrolling (sliding)

Barely nudging my bluetooth mouse causes rapid scrolling (sliding) of whatever window I am in.

Trtied various System Preferences to no avail.

Must scroll BACK to the area I was looking at in Word, Excel, Safari, etc.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

Try changing the scrolling setting in System Preferences/Mouse.

Turn ON ALL the gestures; seems settled down FOR NOW, thanks.

But my EXCEL spreadsheet still JUMPS to column ZZZZZZZ!
