http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4260
Setup at least one of the extremes to the same wireless name = SSID and wireless security settings as the SMC. Same password. If you need to set the wireless channels so they do not interfere with each other.. auto channels does not always work as well as it should. There are in total 3 only non-overlapping wireless channels at 2.4ghz. 1, 6, 11
Connect the Extreme to the SMC using your Powerline adapters. Obviously trying to cover the part of the house not covered by the SMC.
Use the second Extreme by ethernet to the first extreme or SMC.. or wireless extend the first extreme.. to cover any other areas.

Jul 22, 2013 7:59 AM in response to LaPastenagueby fxc7,Okay, it is still not working. I have run the powerline to extreme 1 and created a new wireless network (same as my smc router, different channel). It is giving me a DHCP and NAT error forceing me to put it in bridge mode. When I put it in bridge mode, it drops my internet connection.
So, I tried to disable my wireless on the smc and just connect extreme 1 directly to the smc and it still is giving me the double NAT error.
I would like to set it up like this. SMC running wireless network, powerline to extreme 1 running wireless network, and extreme 2 extending extreme 1 wireless network. Can I do this? If so what settings do I need to have on Extreme 1 and Exteme 2.
Sorry I am such a newb.
Thanks,
fxc7

Jul 22, 2013 2:39 PM in response to fxc7by LaPastenague,Do it with ethernet first in the same room.. I do not trust powerline adapters.. I want you to be sure it works with everything in the same place.
You will get double NAT errors if you use the extreme as a router.. it must be in bridge.
But you create a wireless network.. not join not extend.
So with ethernet plugged into the AE put it in bridge mode.
Go the wireless page and create a wireless network.. same ssid as the SMC..
Same security settings.. same password. Different channel.
Get that working first.
Then move the AE to other room and try it with powerline adapters.. if the powerline adapters fail then you need to plug a computer directly into the remote one and see if you can work out why. I cannot help you fix the powerline adapter.. use the manual that came with it and the setup utility.
If you cannot get it working in the same room using ethernet.. please give me as many screenshots as you can of the settings you are giving the AE.
The rule is the TC must be bridged.. and you MUST create a wireless network. Do not join .. do not extend.
Once you have SMC to AE1 working, then you can extend the wireless using AE2.
If you need exact instructions I need to know what version airport utility you are running to set this up.
