Using iPod with car speakers-only have CD player?

In my last car, I had a cassette player so could use my iPod easily on travel. Now, I only have a CD player. I will not drive with headphones on and last trip used a portable speaker. I have seen big ugly adaptor boxes. Isn't there an easy way to plug into my car's speakers????
