Using Symbol Font to use Greek characters in Keynote

I need Greek characters for a presentation. I have often used the Symbol font in MS Word but the Symbol font choice in Keynote will not generate the Greek letters.

Any thoughts? (besides It's all Greek to me!)

I have the same problem Clarko reported above. I am a sciences teacher that frequently use Greek letters. After finishing a presentation with Keynote, i have to export it to PowerPoint to finally include the Greek characters. Anyone can help us?

Thanks, Archan

OS X apps use Unicode instead of the old Symbol font stuff that just replaced Latin by Greek. To make Greek letters, use the Character Palette (Edit > Special Characters) and go to the Greek Unicode block (0370 and up) and input from there. Or you can type with the Greek keyboard after you activate it in system prefs/international/input menu. The font used will probably be Lucida Grande.

I have just gone with the other method, i.e. system preferences, keyboard, for Greek font and it is truly a thing of beauty! After logging off and on again I can now seamlessly switch between English a Greek in so many different applications it is amazing. I have been using Macs for 13 years and did not know I could do this! If I also choose ‘show keyboard viewer’ from the menu it is a cinch to get the correct Greek letter whilst still learning how the keyboard is laid out. But the best thing is that it makes my life so much easier now that I can easily mix Greek characters in with my English text. Thanks for the tip
