thunderbolt to hdmi

Hey Guys, i tried to connect my MacBook Pro (Early 2011) to my tv (Sony KDL-32P3030). You can see the screen of the mac on the tv, but it looks totally purple. I looked up the preferences but i think there is everthing ok. Do you have any ideas where the problem could be? The cable is new, i just bought it yesterday. Maybe the adapter is the problem...

Any ideas?
