Q: IMPORTING SONGS!!!

I been having a lot of problems with adding songs in Itunes. Before, I had every song in there working perfectly and there was no problem with importing either. A friend of mine by mistake happened to delete all the songs that were on there, and now the Itunes isn't what it used to be. My question is, why isn't Itunes synchronizing the way it's supposed to? Itunes doesn't show anything when I click sync.
