Will Time Capsule extend my Uverse wireless signal without being wired to the modem/router?

I have set up the time capsule wirelessly to extend existing wireless network (UVerse 2-Wire). Everything seems to be connected fine, but is the time capsule really giving me a better signal throughout my house? I really can't tell a difference right now. Does the time capsule need to be wired to the modem/router or placed in the room I need a better signal? What will give me the best signal throughout my house? I'm completely new to using time capsule.

No, the Time Capsule can only do this if you have another Apple router producing your wireless network. Then, the Time Capsule could extend the Apple network wirelessly.

If you locate the Time Capsule in another area of the house and run an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on the Uverse router to the WAN "O" port on the Time Capsule, it can provide more wireless coverage that way.

In this case, configure the Time Capsule to "create" a wireless network using the exact same name, same security setting and same password as the Uverse network. During the setup, AirPort Utility should advise that the Time Capsule needs to be configured in Bridge Mode, which would be the correct setting.

If you want to extend the signal wirelessly, check with Uverse to see if they have a device that will extend your current router....or, if not....look at a "universal" extender like the example below.
