how do I stop the pop up window asking me if im sure I want to open a downloaded app off the internet

It is so annoying everyime I open up google crome that my computer tells me are you sure you want to open this application downloaded from the internet? I have mac verzion OS X 10.8.4 how do i make this go away??

Did you put Google Chrome into Applications? If not, open the Google Chrome disk image you downloaded from the Internet, and drag it to Applications folder. Then, right-click the disk image in Desktop and choose Unmount. Finally, delete the disk image and open Google Chrome from Applications. You won't be asked anymore

It should have only happened once.


I'm not sure why it doesn't unset the quarantine flag.


You might try using the Terminal to delete the quarantine flag:

xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Chrome.app

If Chrome is not in the Applications folder (which may be the problem), just type the command up through quarantine and leave a space, then drag Chrome into the Terminal. Hit return.
