Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99 for 16 GB one and $149 for the other 5Gs. They do not fix yours.

Actually, I've talked to an Apple support person before and they said I can send it in and they will.
They won't with that kind of damage. Make sure it is backed up before you send it in.
