    Sorry, but you must be confused. 

     

    7.3.1 is ancient......5 years +. You cannot use this on any routers that were originally shipped with a higher version of firmware.

     

    To find out what your AirPort router will accept.....

     

    Open AirPort Utility

    Click on the AirPort icon

    Hold down the option key on your Mac while you click on the version number and a drop down list will appear.

     

    Only the firmware versions in the drop down list can be used with that router.

    In addition to Bob's comments, v7.3.1 can only run on the following AirPort models:

     

    • 1st or 2nd generation 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Stations
    • 1st generation Time Capsule
    • 1st generation 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station

     

    If yours in not one of these, you will NOT be able to downgrade it firmware to v7.3.1
