No IP address for Airport Extreme

I can not get on internet through Airport Extreme. I have to connect laptop directly to modem to be able to get on internet.

If I route from laptop to Airprot Extreme, I get nothing.

On the Network page when the AirPort is selected, the light is yellow instead of green and it says underneath AirPort 'No IP address'.

I thinnk all I need to do is get that IP address in there, but don't know how.

Please help.

Thanks A.

The modem is Speedstream.

Model 5100.

I know it is old and I am getting a new one as soon as i get this problem worked out. I didn't think it was the modem since all the lights are on and I get internet and everything when modem plugged into the laptop without going through the Airport.

A page comes up saying 'Another device on the network is using your computer's IP address (69.230.110.101)' etc.'

Internet Server is AT&T. Talked to them this morning and they said they can only work with their own equipment and since all is well with internet when not going through Airport, it's not their equipment.

Sorry, I am not familar with that modem, but do notice that ATT specifies on their support page for the 5100 that......

The following steps are provided to help you to configure your AT&T provided modem/gateway to work with a third party (Apple) router.

This will insure that the modem is configured in Bridge Mode to work correctly with the Apple router. If the modem is not in Bridge Mode now, that is likely one of the reasons that you are seeing error messages about another device on the network using another IP address.

When you configure the modem in Bridge Mode, that means that the AirPort Extreme must connect using PPPoE settings.

Ideally, a user who is has the 5100 modem installed for use with an Apple router will offer some input here. I assume that ATT's instructions are valid.
