Q: "permission repairs" never seems to end

No matter how many times I run "repair permissions" on my HD, restart then run again, there is always a huge list of permissions that need repairing, often the same ones that were just repaired even if I have not used the computer at all. Is this normal?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), intel

If it does, then it's normal and not an indication of any problem.
